Algarve Climate

The Algarve beckons all year round. Its temperate, Mediterranean climate with low annual rainfall and endless hours of sunshine make it a welcome destination at any time of year and a safe refuge from the hardier winters of northern Europe. This fabulous climate, allied to long stretches of fabulous beaches, an enviable choice of golf clubs, animated nightlife and a host of activities attract visitors to its shores irrespective of the season.

Winter temperatures in the Algarve are hard to find elsewhere in Europe. Averaging highs of 15ºC and lows of 11ºC, the long days of sunshine (averaging 10 hours in winter months) are perfect for strolling along the beach, sitting out in the various open-air restaurants and savouring the tasty fresh fish and culinary delights of Algarve cuisine. Low rainfall even during these months makes for perfect golfing days, as the heat is not as intense as during the summer. Spring sees the blossoming of the almond trees and wonderful temperatures (averaging highs of 23ºC and lows of 15ºC), ideal for wandering into the inland mountainous areas and visiting the unspoilt villages of old, where life proceeds at the same sedate pace as it has done for centuries. The heat intensifies in the summer months, averaging highs of 31ºC and lows of 18ºC and providing day upon day of perfect beach conditions and lovely, balmy nights for all those evenings spent outside. Autumn brings more days of agreeable temperatures with average highs of 20ºC and lows of 15ºC.
